MY JOURNEY: From Core to the Clinic Floor
I’ve loved every minute I’ve spent at Paul Mitchell, so much so I sometimes find myself staying after hours to quench my thirst for knowledge. This inspiration was a result of being out on the clinic floor and being exposed & inspired by all the things I've seen so far.
At first, school was overwhelming. Core class was so much information in so little time; after struggling with finger waves and perms I had my doubts that I was even fit to be a cosmetologist. It seemed preposterous that I’d be considered ready to cut and color hair after only 6 weeks of intensive training. But after my first week out on the floor I wasn’t anxious about my ability to succeed, but rather exhilarated by my experience and in awe of the possibilities my future was to hold.
Since then, every day has been an adventure. There’s always something new and exciting going on at our school. I was privileged to be a part of Free Hugs Day, a day where groups of future professionals ventured downtown to spread infectious love and happiness to the local and visiting by passers. As you can see it worked...we even had random strangers joining in on the fun!
I’ve also been amazed by the high caliber of the guest artists that come to speak to the future professionals at PMTS-Chicago. We had Takashi & Colin Caruso (i.e., the hairgods of Cutting & Coloring) come as platform artists and I had an opportunity to get my hair cut by one of the industry’s greatest. Here's a picture of the influential artist Takashi cutting my hair at PMTS-Chicago!

| I feel so very fortunate to be a part of the Paul Mitchell community as I continue on in my life to growprofessionally, relationally and personally. All of my experiences here have helped to cultivate not just a well-rounded education but a well-rounded balance in my life. I am so thankful I listened to my heart and followed my true passion. I didn't think it was possible for my work to make me this happy! |
